Luze is a product from the new urban furniture collection designed for Didheya, which I had the opportunity to work on. Historically, Didheya has manufactured stainless steel tubes for public transport, such as buses and subways. For the past few years, Studio Iratzoki has been collaborating with them to help them expand into new sectors, including home furnishings and now urban furniture, through this new collection. It started with an idea, then a concept, and finally a shape. This bench was the very first one to be imagined. Initially, the goal was to use local stone to create urban furniture. Soon after, stainless steel was integrated into the project.
That was when the concept of a collection with Didheya emerged. Having already collaborated with the studio recently, the brand was ambitious to expand further. We therefore developed this product, followed by the full collection, to present them with the concept. They quickly climbed on board.
Today, the products are in production.
"This public bench offers modular urban seating through its various stainless steel and local stone components. With thousands of possible combinations, it is a versatile choice for any public space. Furthermore, the backrest can also be used as a high perch seat. Combining robust construction with long-term durability, this bench is a practical and aesthetic addition to any urban environment.
